Why We Use Emu Oil in Our Intensive Relief Cream (And Why It Matters)

There are a lot of CBD topicals on the market. Most of them use the same base—some combination of water, emulsifiers, and whatever oil is cheapest to source. We went a different direction, and we want to explain why.

The Penetration Problem

The skin is designed to keep things out. That's its primary job. Most topical products sit on the surface, create a sensation, and then wash off or evaporate. The active ingredients never reach the tissue that actually needs help—the fascia, the muscle, the inflamed joint underneath.

This is why most CBD creams don't work as advertised. The CBD is real, but it never gets where it needs to go.

What Emu Oil Does Differently

Emu oil is one of a small number of naturally occurring transdermal carriers—substances that move through the skin barrier rather than sitting on top of it. It's composed primarily of oleic acid (a monounsaturated fatty acid nearly identical in structure to human skin lipids), which allows it to integrate with the skin's lipid matrix and carry co-applied compounds deeper into tissue.

The research on emu oil as a carrier is legitimate and growing. Studies have shown it can increase the percutaneous absorption of co-applied molecules, reduce transepidermal water loss, and modulate inflammatory markers in skin and underlying tissue. It's been used in pharmaceutical compounding as a penetration enhancer for exactly this reason.

Why 2,000mg

We use 2,000mg of CBD per container—a significantly higher concentration than most retail topicals—because delivery efficiency matters. Even with emu oil as a carrier, some CBD will be lost in the absorption process. Higher concentration gives your body more to work with and increases the likelihood that meaningful amounts reach target tissue.

We didn't arrive at this number arbitrarily. It's based on what we'd want in a product we were using ourselves.

The Full Ingredient Philosophy

Every ingredient in the Intensive Relief Cream has a function. Nothing is there for marketing purposes. The emu oil carries. The CBD modulates inflammation via endocannabinoid receptors in skin and tissue. The supporting botanicals address secondary concerns—circulation, skin barrier, localized soothing. We don't add fragrance to mask smell. We don't add ingredients to make the texture feel more impressive in your hand.

Who It's For

The cream is designed for people with specific, ongoing physical concerns—chronic joint pain, post-training muscle soreness, repetitive stress injury, arthritis. If you're looking for a light daily moisturizer with a small CBD hit, there are cheaper products for that. This one is built for people who need something that actually works on a problem.
